He was the talented bad boy everyone wanted.
I was the irrelevant geek everyone hated.

He was the sun...drawing all of us in.
I was a black hole...taking up space.

He was destined to be a star.
I was destined to remain an insignificant no one.

Until he made me believe I was special...

And then he destroyed me.

I never thought I'd see Phoenix Walker again after he broke my heart, but fate had other plans.

One tour. Eight weeks. Forty shows.

Countless opportunities to make him pay.

The world thought he was a God...
But I knew the truth.

If you’re a fan of the enemies to lovers trope, The Words by A. Jade will be right up your alley! This book offers a compelling and emotional story centered around Phoenix and Lennon, two characters who couldn’t be more different at first but end up finding a deep connection despite their differences.

Phoenix is the classic bad boy rock star with a troubled past, while Lennon is the quiet, bookish girl who ends up becoming his tutor. From the moment they meet, sparks fly, but not the romantic kind—at least not at first. Their initial interactions are filled with tension and frustration, making it clear that they’re headed for an intense enemies to lovers journey.

One of the things I loved about this book is how the author takes the time to build their relationship. It doesn’t feel rushed, and you can see how Phoenix and Lennon grow both individually and as a couple. Their banter is witty, and the way they challenge each other really draws you into their story. The enemies to lovers  tension is palpable throughout the book, and it’s one of those reads where you’re just waiting for the moment they finally let their guard down.

The emotional depth in The Words is also worth noting. It goes beyond the surface of their romantic tension, diving into themes of forgiveness, self-worth, and healing from the past. A. Jade does a great job of blending these deeper elements with the swoon-worthy moments you’d expect from a good enemies-to-romance story.

Overall, if you’re looking for a romance with emotional twists, well-developed characters, and a strong enemies to lovers dynamic, The Words is a great choice. It’s heartfelt, engaging, and will leave you rooting for Phoenix and Lennon from start to finish.
